E' il capoluogo del comune, posto su un sprone roccioso lambito dal primo scorrere del fiume Savio, sul displuvio tra Romagna e Toscana.

Located between the slopes of Poggio Vergataio and Poggio Alto, next to one of the easiest mountain passes of the pennines (865 mt a.s.l.) which has been an easy natural communication route between the valleys of the Savio and Tevere rivers between the north and south of Italy.

This outlying hamlet is spread out along a long ridge between the upper reaches of the Para and Parella rivers which join a little further below.
